I used to work for the Professional Bowlers Association as the tour's press director and as a tournament director. In 1997, I rescued 80 PBA "champions' banners" from the garbage (75 unique and five duplicates). Our player services director was throwing them out because they contained the names of bowlers who no longer competed on the regular tour and he didn't want to keep hauling them around. In the 10 years I've had them I've come to realize I'll never have the space to display them properly. Therefore, I'd like to sell them.

     As you probably know, any player winning a PBA Tour title, PBA Senior Tour title or a National Resident Pro Championship, was awarded a champion's banner. The bowler chose the color of the banner and the lettering. The banners were originally made by the 83-year-old Akron Felt and Chenille Manufacturing Co., Inc. in Akron, Ohio, where the PBA was based when I worked for them. A friend who still works for the PBA tells me the banners now cost $90 each.  Therefore, replacement value would be $7,200. 

     Most of the banners show some stains, but one never could tell on TV or from 60 feet away. They were in PBA host centers from coast to coast and were not treated especially well. Hanging champions' banners was one of the less fun jobs that our player services people performed. However, the colors remain bright and none of them are torn. Some, in fact, look new. I'd like to sell all 80 as a group. If you're interested, please make an offer.
